Renting a Car or Campervan For many, travelling by car is the best way of seeing this country in all its glory! If something does go wrong whilst on the road, don’t get out and walk because you’ll be a lot safer and easier to find in your car. Australians drive on the left just as in the UK. Drink driving is incredibly stoopid as well as illegal so don’t do it! Take regular breaks whilst on the road and share the driving because tiredness does cause accidents. Also, watch out for the local wildlife whilst driving, particularly at dusk and at night. Kangaroos have a tendency to head towards car headlights after dark, so watch out for signs at the side of the road! A medium size roo will completely destroy the front half of your car when you are driving at speed, so take it slow. When hiring a car or campervan, remember that companies nearly always want the named driver to be 21 years old or over. www.wickedcampers.com.au
